I’ve taken over 30,000 photos of these streets. This experience has given me a priceless gift that I would have never anticipated: belonging. I was promised a cold and brutal New York. What I found was an ember - a burst of warmth. To me, an ember stands for a spark of warmth that comes from something greater. That’s exactly what my photos of New York City became to me. This photo collection is the story of the embers that the streets of New York City let off every day.
